While many continue to doso by undertaking hijrah to the Is-lamic State, others do so by defiantlyterrorizing the crusaders in their verystrongholds. Such was the case on the20thof Safar when Syed Rizwan Fa-rook and his wife Tashfeen Malik car-ried out an attack on the kuffār in SanForewordBernardino, California and succeededin killing 14 of them and wounding22 more. As the operation took place,Tashfeen Malik made a post onlinereaffirming their bay’ah to Amīrul-Mu’minīn, Shaykh Abū Bakr al-Bagh-dādī (hafidhahullāh). She and her hus-band then engaged in a shootout withsecurity forces and were killed, therebyattaining shahādah in the path of Al-lah. We consider them so, and Allahis their judge. Thus, the Khilāfah’s callfor the Muslims to strike the crusad-ers in their own lands was answeredonce more, but on this particular oc-casion the attack was unique. Themujāhid involved did not suffice withembarking upon the noble path of ji-hād alone. Rather, he conducted theoperation together with his wife, withthe two thereby aiding one another inrighteousness and taqwā.Allahsaid, {The believing men andbelieving women are allies of one an-other. They enjoin what is right andforbid what is wrong and establishprayer and give zakah and obey Al-lah and His Messenger. Those – Allahwill have mercy upon them. Indeed,Allah is Exalted in Might and Wise}[At-Tawbah: 71]. The Prophetsaid, “May Allah have mercy upon aman who gets up at night and praysand then wakes up his wife who thenprays, and if she refuses, sprinkles wa-ter on her face. May Allah have mercyupon a woman who gets up at nightand prays and then wakes up her hus-band who then prays, and if he refuses,sprinkles water on his face” [Reportedby Abū Dāwūd, an-Nasā’ī, and oth-ers from Abū Hurayrah]. If this is thedu’ā’ of the Prophetfor a husbandand wife who aid each other in gettingup for qiyām al-layl, how much moredeserving of Allah’s blessing are a hus-band and wife who march out togeth-er to fight the crusaders in defense ofthe Khilāfah! Allahsaid,{Indeed, those who have said, “OurLord is Allah” and then remained on aright course – the angels will descendupon them, saying, “Do not fear anddo not grieve but receive good tidingsof Jannah, which you were promised.We [angels] were your allies in theworldly life and are so in the Hereaf-ter”} [Fussilat: 30-31]. Imām Mujāhid,the famous mufassir of the Tābi’īn,said that the meaning of {Do not fearand do not grieve} is, “Do not fear thatwhich you are heading to of the affairsof the Hereafter, and do not grieveover what you’ve left behind of yourDunyā, including family and children,for we will look after all of that foryou” [At-Tabarī].Thus, the believers who do trade withAllah will never lose, rather, they onlystand to profit. {O you who have be-lieved, shall I guide you to a transac-tion that will save you from a painfulpunishment? It is that you believe inAllah and His Messenger and strivein the cause of Allah with your wealthand your lives. That is best for you, ifyou should know. He will forgive foryou your sins and admit you to gar-dens beneath which rivers flow andpleasant dwellings in gardens of per-petual residence.
